Hole By Hole Guide
Hole 1
349 Yds Par 4 Ind 15 341 Yds Par 4 Index 15 274 Yds Par 4 Index 15 With trees left and right and out of bounds down the right this is a relatively tight par 4 to start with. Ideal position is centre left of the fairway which gives best approach shot into the green. The green is guarded left and right with greenside bunkers and is not as flat as it first appears. Depending on wind direction driver will leave the accomplished player with a wedge approach, but long iron or fairway wood is probably the wiser club selection.
Hole 2
456 Yds Par 4 Index 5 397 Yds Par 4 Index 5 343 Yds Par 4 Index 3
The 2nd is a testing par four. Driver required for most golfers, especially as this hole is often played into a prevailing wind. Too far left and you will be in or blocked out by trees. Too far right, if you are not out of bounds, you could find yourself in the ditch or very deep rough ! Straight hitters are not always safe, as a dyke runs across the fairway some 200 yards off the tee, short hitters beware ! And 30 yards short of the green is another fairway dyke. Any tee shot on the fairway is good leaving a shot into a
large green sloping gently right to left.
Hole 3
147 Yds Par 3 Index 17 140 Yds Par 3 Index 17 130 Yds Par 3 Index 17
Looks simple enough but is well guarded by bunkers left and right and a hazard 20 yards in front of the green. Undulating green which slopes from back to front. Too long and you risk reaching the heavy rough behind the green. Mid iron for most players into the heart of the green should allow a safe par.
Hole 4 423 Yds Par 4 Ind 3 383 Yds Par 4 Index 3 332 Yds Par 4 Index 5
A testing par four. Driver with a draw is the favourable shot as this hole has a subtle dogleg from left to right. Trees left and right will block approach shots if found from the tee. Large undulating green which has many slopes ensuring a testing putt from most places. Be happy if you make a 4 here.
Hole 5
357 Yds Par 4 Ind 13 350 Yds Par 4 Index 13 339 Yds Par 4 Index 7
Short par 4 with undulating fairway. Trees left and right so accuracy from the tee is vital. Large greenside bunker to contend with on the right hand side. Difficult green
sloping back to front and right to left.
Hole 6 537 Yds Par 5 Index 7 529 Yds Par 5 Index 7 459 Yds Par 5 Index 9 The 1st par 5 with a gentle dogleg left to right. Big hitters can reach in 2, but a relatively straight forward par on offer if ball kept on fairway. Greenside bunkers left and right and a bunker 15 yards in front of green on the right. Pot bunker can catch second shots if not careful. Large green sloping right to left.
Hole 7
408 Yds Par 4 Ind 1 402 Yds Par 4 Index 1 359 Yds Par 4 Index 1 A difficult par 4. Out of bounds right, ditch and trees to negotiate in front and fairway bunkers left. Ditch across fairway 75 yards short of green. Greenside bunker left. Large green with a very gentle slope from right to left. Fairway wood probably best option as tee shot accuracy vital if you are to score well here.
Hole 8
183 Yds Par 3 Ind 11 171 Yds Par 3 Index 11 158 Yds Par 4 Index 11
The most difficult par 3 on the course. Depending on conditions can be a short iron or a fairway wood. Out of bounds left. Greenside bunkers in front, left and right of green. Large green gently sloping right to left. Always a good 3 here.
Hole 9
540 Yds Par 5 Ind 9 472 Yds Par 5 Index 9 398 Yds Par 5 Index 13
The second par 5. Tight drive with trees left and right. Large fairway bunker to the left. Big hitters can reach in 2, but beware ditch 100 yards short of green. Greenside bunkers left and right. Green slopes back to front.
Hole 10 349 Yds Par 4 Ind 15 341 Yds Par 4 Index 15 274 Yds Par 4 Index 15 A relatively straight forward start to the back nine. Big hitters beware pond on the right handside of the fairway. Fairway wood or long iron centre left of the fairway allows clear view of sloping front to back green. Slicers beware trees on the left and an approach shot over trees and water. A hook here and you will be OB, into the Beedles Lake ! Green also guarded by deep bunker down the left handside.
Hole 11 . 357 Yds Par 4 Ind 2 340 Yds Par 4 Index 2 331 Yds Par 4 Index 12 Not the longest par 4 on the course, but demands accuracy from the tee. Out of bounds down the left and trees right. If you can draw the ball aim at the last big tree on the right. Driver leaves a short wedge to a green sloping front to back. Sensible players might hit a long iron / rescue club to leave a modest approach. Greenside bunkers in front, left and right of green.
Hole 12
320 Yds Par 4 Ind 14 311 Yds Par 4 Index 14 301 Yds Par 4 Index 4
The shortest par 4 on the course. Big hitters can drive this green. Not always as simple as it looks! River on the right handside will gather slicers. If you hit a draw no problem. Large flattish green guarded by bunker on the left. Sensible club selection will leave a good birdie oppurtunity for most.
Hole 13 140 Yds Par 3 Index 18 134 Yds Par 3 Index 18 121 Yds Par 3 Index 18 Should be a mid iron / wedge for most. Straight forward if you hit it straight. River awaits left, right and behind green. Large bunker will catch any shot that is short. Large undulating green sloping gently back to front.
Hole 14 370 Yds Par 4 Index 10 361 Yds Par 4 Index 10 315 Yds Par 4 Index 14
A gentle dogleg right to left. Fairway bunkers left and right, with trouble along both sides of the fairway. Driver will leave a mid iron into a green sloping from left to right. Green also drops front and back from a central position, and also guarded by a bunker on the left handside. Pin position can make this a very difficult hole.
Hole 15 398 Yds Par 4 Index 6 386 Yds Par 4 Index 6 330 Yds Par 4 Index 2
A difficult par 4 often played into a prevailing wind. Driver required for most. Ditch across fairyway some 60 yards short of the green. Gently sloping green protected by bunker on the right. Trouble left and right with trees waiting to block your approach.
Hole 16 396 Yds Par 4 Index 4 383 Yds Par 4 Index 4 329 Yds Par 4 Index 6 Another difficult par 4. A gentle dogleg from right to left. Driver required for most. New fairway bunker will trouble short hitters on the left. Approach to a green sloping left to right, guarded on the left by a bunker and a pond on the right.
Hole 17 495 Yds Par 5 Index 16 386 Yds Par 5 Index 16 420 Yds Par 5 Index 16 Straight forward drive. Big hitters can reach in 2, but need to be wary of ditch across fairway 50 yards short of green. Narrow approach to the green over ditch guarded by trees left and right. Greenside bunkers left and right. Green slopes gently front to back.
Hole 18 416 Yds Par 4 Index 8 407 Yds Par 4 Index 8 393 Yds Par 5 Index 8 The card wrecker! The most tricky hole on the course for many with lots of good scores coming to an end here. Trouble left and right off the tee. Fairway bunkers on the right. Greenside bunker also on the right. Draw the ball off the tee aiming at the clubhouse is ideal. Driver for most but long iron / fairway wood safer option if protecting a score. Always a good par if you manage one here.
