Winter Golf at Beedles Lake: Full Greens All Year

Beedles Lake plays on its full greens all year round. We never move to temporary greens, not even in the depths of winter, so a winter round here is played on the same greens as a summer one. Winter green fees start on 30 November. Book online with the Visitor Booking button.

Why our greens stay in play

When the course was built, ash was used as the root-zone for the greens. This was against all advice on green construction at the time, but Jelsons organised experiments and showed it to be good growing matter with excellent drainage. The use of this material is the reason Beedles Lake never has to use temporary greens. Read the full story in our history of the club.

Head Greenkeeper Sam Shuttlewood and his staff present the course so that you can play on the greens and tees all year round.
