Which Golf Membership Is Right for Me?

In short: It depends on how often you play. At 2026/27 prices, 5 Day Pay & Play costs less than 5 Day Full membership until about 40 weekday rounds a year, and 7 Day Pay & Play costs less than 7 Day Full until about 46. If you play less than once a week, Pay & Play is usually the better value.

Beedles Lake has membership for every age and budget, and the right one depends mostly on how often you play and whether you play at weekends. The worked examples below use the 2026/27 prices on our membership page. Membership renews on 1 May, and prices include VAT and union fees.

Pay & Play or full membership?

Pay & Play membership has a lower annual fee, and then you pay a reduced green fee each time you play: £17 on a weekday, and £20 at the weekend with 7 Day Pay & Play. Full membership costs more up front, with no green fee to pay. Some examples:

  • 20 weekday rounds a year: 5 Day Pay & Play costs £185 plus 20 rounds at £17, £525 in all, against £855 for 5 Day Full.
  • 40 weekday rounds a year: 5 Day Pay & Play comes to £865, slightly more than 5 Day Full at £855. From about 40 rounds, full membership is the better value.
  • 20 weekday and 10 weekend rounds: 7 Day Pay & Play costs £280, plus £340 and £200 in green fees, £820 in all, against £1,050 for 7 Day Full.
  • Twice a week, all year: about 100 rounds would cost £1,980 on 7 Day Pay & Play at the weekday rate, against £1,050 for 7 Day Full.

As a visitor, 18 holes costs £35 on a summer weekday (see the green fees), so 5 Day Pay & Play pays for itself in about 11 summer weekday rounds.

5 Day or 7 Day?

5 Day membership covers golf from Monday to Friday, and 7 Day membership adds the weekend. The difference is £195 a year for full membership (£855 against £1,050) and £95 for Pay & Play (£185 against £280).
